A Wedding Videographer’s Perspective On The Best Wedding Venues Around Bendigo

Here it is, the final of my blog trilogy showcasing some of my favourite venues for wedding videography around Victoria. Having already revealed my front-runners for Ballarat and Melton, it’s now time for Bendigo. On the surface it may seem like these are all just indistinguishable gold rush towns, but I can assure you that Bendigo hosts a number of amazing venues that make it truly unique. Here’s a select few that would make any wedding videographer excited to be invited to.

CHATEAU DORE WINERY, MANDURANG

Residents of Bendigo are incredibly lucky to be living so close to one of my favourite wineries. Even if you’re a couple who is out of town, Chateau Dore Winery provides the perfect alternative to the Yarra Valley. The winery is made up of many acres of manicured English-style gardens which make it one of the best backdrops for a garden ceremony. For location wedding videography, we’re spoiled for choice. We’ll have endless gardens to explore as well as access to the historic cellars for some truly unique shots. The venue has a large selection of display items available on site - highly recommended for a coordinated reception setup that pairs perfectly with the indoor architecture.

On your wedding day, you can expect the wedding videography to be adventurous yet laid back as we explore the incredible gardens together.

CHURCHILL, TARADALE

Without question, one the most beautiful places to host a wedding reception in the state. Churchill is located in the quiet and beautiful Taradale countryside, just 30mins from Bendigo and is a spectacularly romantic and stunningly elegant wedding venue. What sets it apart is the option to set up your reception outdoors beneath a grand whitewashed 1850’s church. Not only is this an unforgettable experience for your guests, but it provides a backdrop for some extraordinary reception videography that is rarely seen. There’s also something so cool about having your guests deliver their speech in such an epic setting under a golden sunset.

I probably should’ve mentioned that the impressive church is also where you’ll host your ceremony and is equally as impressive on the inside. I’d recommend allowing some time to return to the church after it’s been cleared out for some first dance rehearsal which makes for some incredibly romantic wedding video shots.

MACKENZIE QUARTERS, BENDIGO

While the perfect wedding venue probably doesn’t exist, Mackenzie Quarters is as close as you can get. Location? Right in the heart of Bendigo’s Art Precinct. Convenience? Onsite accomodation is available for pre and post-wedding. Aesthetics? I’ll let the photos do the talking. The 1870’s gothic-style red brick building includes its original wooden ceilings, arched windows and wooded floors. The whole venue still holds on to much of the character of that 1870’s style, so if a historic wedding venue is top of your list, look no further! These subtle details are hard to imitate and translate wonderfully through wedding video. This is where your wedding reception is held as well as the ceremony if you’re after that classic chapel-style look. However, if you’re picturing an outdoor ceremony, the gorgeous Rosalind Park is a short stroll away and is a popular spot to tie the knot.

In your wedding video, you can expect a timeless feel as if you were watching a colourised film from the 19th century.
