QUAT QUATTA WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY

A WEDDING FILMED AT THE QUAT QUATTA, RIPPONLEA //

VENUE: QUAT QUATTA

PHOTOGRAPHER: QUINT PHOTOGRAPHY

There’s something uniquely cinematic about shooting a wedding film at Quat Quatta. Tucked away in Melbourne’s inner southeast, this heritage mansion has all the elements that make wedding videography shine. Textured architecture, warm garden light, and clean, intentional design both inside and out. Every time I film here, I walk away with footage that just works.

This wedding was a standout, not only for the venue but for the beautiful mix of cultures. Polish and Arabic families came together, two traditions that couldn’t be more different, yet somehow harmonised seamlessly throughout the day. It was moving to witness, and even more rewarding to capture.

I started the day at St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, a place I’ve filmed before and always look forward to returning to. The church is grand in every sense. Towering ceilings, ornate statues, and deep shadows that create a reverent, cinematic quality. From a wedding videographer’s perspective, it’s a dream setting to showcase the depth of Catholic ceremony and tradition.

After the ceremony and a quick round of family photos, we headed to Treasury Gardens for portraits. Tight timing and limited parking meant we couldn’t stay long, but in hindsight, that was a blessing. Arriving earlier than expected at Quat Quatta, we were gifted with perfect golden-hour lighting. The sun had just started dipping over the venue’s high garden walls, casting soft, directional light across the couple and giving me a window to create some truly striking portrait visuals.

That light lingered into cocktail hour, which was a rare treat. It meant I had the time and space to film relaxed guest moments, candid laughs, and clinking glasses with beautiful depth and warmth. As any wedding videographer knows, those transitional moments are gold in the edit.

Reception began in classic style, a sit-down dinner punctuated by tradition. The couple made their entrance to Arabic drums, setting the tone, and later, the Polish custom of "Kto będzie rządził?" brought plenty of energy to the speeches. I always pay close attention to the couple’s reception speech, especially after a Catholic ceremony where personal vows are often left unsaid. It’s usually their one opportunity to share heartfelt words with each other in front of everyone, and this night was no exception.

The layout of Quat Quatta’s reception space gives videographers a major advantage. There’s a balcony above the dancefloor that allows for an elevated second camera angle, a dream setup for capturing clean, uninterrupted footage even when the party is in full swing. And once the dancing began, the atmosphere didn’t let up. Drums, cheers, and energetic movement filled the room, and I made the most of it with about an hour of filming before wrapping the night.

If you’re planning your day and searching for a venue that offers elegance, versatility, and a setting that naturally elevates your wedding film, Quat Quatta is one of Melbourne’s best. From golden hour portraits to sweeping reception coverage, it’s a venue that gives as much as it receives. And from a wedding videography perspective, it ticks all the right boxes.
