THE LAKEHOUSE WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY

A WEDDING FILMED AT THE LAKEHOUSE, DAYLESFORD //

VENUE: THE LAKEHOUSE

PHOTOGRAPHER: STILL MUSE

Autumn in Daylesford is hard to beat. The air is crisp, the light is warm, and the trees put on a show with their changing colours. This particular wedding at The Lake House Daylesford landed right in the middle of it all. It was one of those days where you feel lucky to be a wedding videographer.

I arrived a little earlier than usual, partly from excitement and partly to give myself space to ease into the day. I took a walk around the lake and captured some shots of the surrounding area. It’s something I often like to do if time allows, especially at venues like this where the natural setting plays such a big role in the feel of the final wedding film.

The day officially began with bride prep in the on-site bridal suite. It’s a big, open space with plenty of room to move and shoot from a variety of angles. That kind of flexibility makes a difference when capturing the small details of the morning. The atmosphere was light and full of anticipation, helped along by the presence of the bride’s family who kept everything grounded and relaxed.

The ceremony took place just outside, in a space overlooking the lake. It was a tight fit for the number of guests, but I made use of the restaurant balcony above to set up a second angle. That extra perspective gave me freedom to move around on the ground and chase different moments without the risk of missing anything. It also helped when things got tricky with audio. The PA system couldn’t be used in the end, but with a bit of problem solving and some well-placed hidden recorders, I still managed to get clean audio from all the speakers. A string quartet played throughout, adding to the calm and romantic energy of the moment.

After the ceremony, the couple headed into a long round of family photos. Knowing they’d miss most of canapés, I used that time to film guests catching up and enjoying the atmosphere. These kinds of natural, unscripted moments often bring the film to life in the edit.

As the sun started to set, I took the couple back around the lake, retracing my morning walk. With that golden light and the last of the autumn leaves catching it just right, everything came together. These two were effortlessly affectionate, and their connection made filming those romantic shots feel easy and honest.

When night fell, the reception kicked off with live music and plenty of energy. There were a few great speeches, but the bride’s father stood out. I posted a one-minute excerpt from his speech to Instagram—something about it just resonated. Within days it had gone viral. At the time of writing, it’s sitting at over 18 million views. You can watch that clip on this page.

If you’re planning your wedding in regional Victoria and looking for a venue that offers lakeside charm, autumn beauty, and a well-organised all-in-one setup, The Lake House in Daylesford is a fantastic choice. From a wedding videography point of view, the variety of backdrops, beautiful light, and smart layout make it easy to create something timeless. As a Melbourne wedding videographer, it’s always a pleasure making the trip out to venues like this.
