HELLENIC MUSEUM WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY

A VIETNAMESE WEDDING FILMED AT HELLENIC MUSEUM, MELBOURNE //

ABOUT THE WEDDING

The Hellenic Museum in Melbourne combines cultural richness with modern sophistication. As a Melbourne wedding videographer, filming weddings here is always inspiring due to the venue’s unique architecture and intimate atmosphere.

This celebration unfolded across two separate events, allowing the couple to fully embrace both the traditional and modern elements of their wedding experience. They chose my Signature Package for their wedding day coverage and added pre-event coverage to document their tea ceremony a few days earlier, a combination that suited the scale and significance of everything they had planned.

The first event was the tea ceremony, held in the morning several days before the wedding itself. Vietnamese tea ceremonies are always filled with emotion, symbolism, and family connection, and this one was no different. The morning began with the groom arriving alongside his family and groomsmen, bearing gifts and formally asking for permission to enter the bride’s home and begin the marriage rites.

Before entering, the groom was put through traditional entry games, answering questions and completing challenges set by the bridesmaids to prove his love and commitment. He managed to avoid the morning punishment of a vodka shot, which is impressive considering the early start.

Once inside, the tea ceremony itself became one of the most heartfelt parts of the entire wedding experience. The couple served tea to their parents and elders while receiving blessings, advice, and emotional words from both families. These quieter moments are often some of the most meaningful to film, especially when generations of family are gathered together in such an intimate setting.

A few days later came the wedding day itself, a full 12-hour celebration beginning with morning preparations and continuing late into the evening. Melbourne’s long January daylight hours gave us plenty of time to move comfortably through the day without ever feeling rushed.

Later in the afternoon, I met the couple at Crown Towers Melbourne for a short filming session while they changed into their Western wedding outfits. It created a calm pause in the day and allowed us to capture more intimate moments together before heading to their ceremony at the Hellenic Museum.

The outdoor ceremony was held beneath a sprawling tree within the museum grounds, accompanied by live piano music that added to the relaxed and romantic atmosphere. Their vows were personal and emotional, the kind that naturally become the emotional backbone of a wedding film.

After the ceremony, we stopped briefly at Carlton Gardens for portraits during golden hour. It remains one of Melbourne’s most timeless locations for wedding photography and videography, with its combination of greenery and historic architecture creating a cinematic backdrop in almost any light.

The final part of the day took place at Sheldon Receptions, where more than 500 guests gathered to celebrate into the night. From wedding games to indoor sparklers during the first dance, the reception carried a strong energy from beginning to end. Even after a full day of filming, the dancefloor still felt like it was only getting started as I packed down for the evening.

What made this wedding memorable was the way it balanced tradition, modern celebration, and genuine family connection across both events. Having the opportunity to document not only the wedding day itself, but also the tea ceremony beforehand, allowed their film to feel more complete and personal, capturing the full story rather than just a single day.
