A WEDDING FILMED AT FERGUSSON WINERY, YARRA VALLEY //
COMING SOON
Fergusson Winery is a Yarra Valley wedding venue that combines vineyard surrounds, rustic charm, and flexible spaces for both ceremonies and receptions. For wedding videography, it offers a variety of locations in one spot, which means couples don’t have to travel far to get different looks in their film.
This was the first wedding of spring for me, and while the vines were still bare, the warm weather made for ideal conditions. I began the morning at De’Vine Escape, accommodation located just next door to the winery. The groom, his groomsmen, and his dad had a relaxed start, which gave me time to film some establishing shots of the area. Meanwhile, the bride and her bridal party were preparing in the onsite Couples Retreat. From a videographer’s perspective, this space is incredibly useful. The natural light, clean interiors, and proximity to the reception make it ideal for bridal preparation sequences, while later in the day it doubles as a quiet spot for the couple to step away from the crowd and allow me to film more candid moments.
The ceremony took place in the Forever Chapel. Many couples at Fergusson choose the outdoor settings, but the chapel created a beautiful, close atmosphere that suited their guest list of around 50. The stained glass window behind the couple gave me the chance to work creatively with light, filming silhouettes and layered frames that really elevated the ceremony footage. A small space like this also feels perfect for capturing natural audio, and I couldn’t help but think how well an unplugged ceremony here would suit the mood.
Directly outside, Fergusson’s long driveway flanked by vineyards became my first portrait location with the couple. The symmetry of the vines leading down to the reception building worked perfectly for wide cinematic shots, while close-ups among the vines created a softer, more romantic feel. From there, I took a golf cart with the couple to the lake. This was the standout moment of the shoot. With vineyards all around and an unspoiled view of the sunset, it gave me golden-hour footage that tied the day together beautifully.
The reception continued the intimate feel with two long tables that encouraged a connected, family-style atmosphere. The dining room itself is generously sized but can also be sectioned off to suit weddings of different sizes, which makes it adaptable for both large celebrations and smaller, more personal gatherings. From a videography perspective, this flexibility is ideal, as it allows me to frame the space so it always feels full of life and energy on film. The room filmed beautifully, with plenty of space for speeches, wide shots of the entire group, and movement on the dance floor.
The team at Fergusson also deserves mention. Sarah in particular went above and beyond, helping run drinks out to the couple during portraits and quietly adjusting the schedule to keep things flowing. That behind-the-scenes support not only made the couple’s day easier, it allowed me to keep filming naturally without interruptions or delays.
From a videographer’s point of view, Fergusson Winery is a venue that makes it easy to tell a complete story. The mix of ceremony options, vineyard-lined backdrops, and dedicated spaces like the Couples Retreat all provide different layers to a wedding film. Add in the sunset at the lake, and you have a recipe for cinematic sequences that couples will love to look back on for years to come. For anyone planning a Fergusson Winery wedding, it is a venue that not only looks beautiful in person but also translates seamlessly into timeless wedding videography.
