DROMANA ESTATE WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY
A WEDDING FILMED AT DROMANA ESTATE, MORNINGTON PENINSULA //
I had been looking forward to this wedding at Dromana Estate for a while. Mike was someone I had grown up playing in bands with over a decade ago, and although we had not seen each other since, we had both stayed on creative paths. I moved into wedding videography, while he built a strong presence on YouTube within the car and drifting scene. Knowing both him and Tara had big personalities and were completely comfortable in front of the camera, I knew this would be a great day to film.
Prep began across a couple of Airbnbs, and going in, I already knew I would be creating a longer feature film alongside their highlight. Because of that, I took a more documentary approach early in the day, focusing on capturing the in-between moments of the couple and their friends spending time together. These are not always perfectly lit or composed, but that is not the priority. For this style of wedding videography, it is about capturing real moments in high volume, while still setting aside time to create more polished, cinematic shots for the highlight film. That balance carried through the entire day.
We arrived at Dromana Estate ahead of an impressive lineup of high-spec cars, which set the tone for what was to come. The venue offered a welcoming pre-ceremony atmosphere, with drinks ready as guests arrived and settled in. It was my first time working with celebrant Paul Bonadio, whose delivery stood out immediately. He told the couple’s story with a natural mix of humour and sincerity, never forcing the moment. His ceremony audio ended up forming the foundation of the opening for their wedding film.
Following the ceremony, the relaxed energy carried straight into canapés, now with the couple free to move through the crowd. This is always one of my favourite parts of the day to film as a wedding videographer at Dromana Estate. It allows me to step back and capture candid interactions as they unfold, without interrupting the moment. The layout of the venue makes this especially easy, with everything flowing naturally between spaces.
With this being an early February wedding, we were able to move through the initial reception formalities before heading out for sunset. The open field at Dromana Estate is particularly well suited to wedding videography, especially on a clear evening. The yellow grass catches the light and lifts into a deep golden tone, creating a really striking backdrop for couple footage.
The night finished with a series of strong speeches, a first dance surrounded by guests, and a high energy dancefloor that leaned heavily into 2000s emo tracks. It felt like Mike and I were right back where we started… headbanging and screaming the anthems of our youths.
Overall, Dromana Estate is a venue I would highly recommend to any couple looking for a relaxed wedding with strong visual potential. From a wedding videography perspective, it offers a great balance of open space, natural light, and a layout that supports a candid, story-driven approach. soon.
