CHATEAU DORE WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHY
A WEDDING FILMED AT CHATEAU DORE, BENDIGO //
Heading back to Bendigo is always a pleasure, but this time it was at a proper wedding venue rather than a private property where I’ve usually found myself. Don’t get me wrong, I love filming at private homes for their relaxed feel and total freedom, but it’s refreshing to work somewhere with coordinators keeping the day on track, curated gardens for portraits, and dedicated indoor reception spaces. For couples looking for a Chateau Dore wedding videographer, having those things in place makes the day flow smoothly and translates well on camera.
Prep was split across two different Bendigo Airbnb properties for the bride and groom. Both were familiar to the photographer, who mentioned she had shot there many times, but she welcomed me to bring a fresh perspective. I focused on capturing the bride and groom as I usually do, by positioning them in the best space available and letting them get ready as they would normally. It’s my go-to set up for both beautiful looking shots without feeling staged.
The rest of the day unfolded at Chateau Dore. The ceremony was tucked under the shade of mature trees, and the bride’s long walk across the lawn was a highlight. It gave Dylan time to really watch Jemma approach, a fleeting but meaningful milestone moment that can be wasted if the pacing is rushed. Family photos followed, and the venue’s garden lane, separated by a wall of trees, gave just the right mix of privacy and connection to the guests’ overheard laughter and excitement.
We managed a few quick couple shots before letting Dylan and Jemma mingle with their guests. One of my favourite things about this venue is the ability to do outdoor speeches while it’s still sunny. With a canape-style dinner, everything lined up perfectly. The evening mingling allowed me to grab candid shots, capturing the natural flow of the day and guests enjoying themselves.
Sunset shots at Chateau Dore are straightforward thanks to the gravel road and open fields. There’s not a huge variety of locations for golden-hour portraits, but the combination of the tree-lined garden lane earlier in the day and a handful of sunset shots gave plenty of cinematic moments for the highlight film.
Inside, the chateau itself was prepped for a wide-open party rather than a sit-down reception. Because I had already captured extensive coverage during the canape-style dinner, I only needed a few dancing shots to complete the reception scene for the film before wrapping up.
For couples planning a wedding here, Chateau Dore wedding videography benefits from the mix of structured spaces, beautiful outdoor ceremony areas, and straightforward sunset spots. It’s a venue that lets the day feel effortless while still giving plenty of cinematic opportunities for the final film.
