A Micro Wedding at the Iconic Pole House

A MICRO WEDDING AT THE POLE HOUSE, GREAT OCEAN ROAD //

VENUE: THE POLE HOUSE, FAIRHAVEN

PHOTOGRAPHER: KEWK’S PHOTOGRAPHY

If you’ve ever driven the Great Ocean Road, you’ve certainly noticed this architectural curiosty pertruding from the mountains towards the ocean. And like me, you’ve probably asked the same questions… What’s inside? Who owns it? What’s the view like? Well lucky me had those questions answered when I was asked to film Chantelle and Dominik’s micro wedding.

ABOUT THE COUPLE

HOW DID YOU GUYS MEET?

In modern dating-style fashion, we met on Tinder 3 years ago. It only took a week before we had our first date on Chapel St and the rest is history.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO CAPTURE YOUR WEDDING ON VIDEO?

We wanted to be able to look back on our wedding not just through photos but also in moving pictures to capture the laughter and the love.

WHY DID YOU GUYS PICK ME?

For Dom and I, you were the only option. We had always been massive fans of your work so we knew exactly what you could do.

THE PROPOSAL… TELL ME EVERYTHING

It was the craziest week of my life! I had just opened my business and was starting to acquire amazing new clients. Due to the pandemic, Dom had organised a belated 1yr anniversary dinner at the same place we had our first date (it was 9 months late!). We met up with friends of ours (little did I know, they were recruited to take photos and videos of the event) and went for a walk to St Kilda Pier (where we had our second date). he popped the question at the end of the pier. It was truly a magical moment, especially considering Dom didn't even believe in marriage!

THE POLE HOUSE… WHY HERE ABOVE ANYWHERE ELSE?

The owner of The Pole House is one of Dom's clients. The space operates exclusively as accomodation and is usually not available for weddings. However, Dom decided to take a chance and ask (without running it by me) if it was possible to have a tiny wedding of 15 people... thankfully she agreed. Dom called me to pitch the idea, I said yes (because how could I say no to such an iconic venue!?) and we booked in the next available date. A year later, we finally got to have our special day!

WHAT’S PLANNED FOR THE HONEYMOON?

It’s vanlife and escaping the Melbourne winter for us! We're flying into Brisbane, picking up a campervan and driving to Cairns for the first week. Then the second week we'll be staying in Cairns, snorkeling and exploring the Daintree.
